Hey everyone! It’s 4:30 AM right now the day before I leave on vacation as I am writing this. I unfortunately can’t comment on congratulating anyone SPECIFICALLY for making it to the FTC, but I’m sure you are well deserving and deserve lots of congrats that my fellow jurors will be giving you. I have a bit of a game to play with you, but I’ll save that for the later part of my speech. First I’ll try “addressing” each of you individually, say hi, ya know fun stuff.

Joaquin, dude. You know I think you’re great and congrats for making it as far as you did, making FTC is no small feat (I’ve literally never done it), but you aren’t in for a fun time from this jury. You have been viewed as being pretty inactive for the whole season which certainly isn’t going to help your chances to win this thing. I do recognize though that you made moves to get here. Betraying Steph at 6 is PROBABLY going to be your biggest one, but dealing with nuPenedo after that first swap and navigating your way through even though Ian got eliminated is a pretty good accomplishment. Will you get my vote? Ehhh, I don’t think chances are high but anything can happen.

I think you are one of the strangest players I have ever played with lol, but I actually enjoyed it. We only met about halfway through the game and it wasn’t exactly “love at first sight.” Slowly though we did develop a relationship and I was always very honest with you and I was always pretty sure you were with me too. I think you are an extremely smart player and probably aren’t going to get the credit you deserve for a lot of how this game has went down. You unfortunately just weren’t as much of a “figure” compared to your other allies like Tom and Varner. While that is not automatically a bad thing, it is easier to argue a public game because we have all seen it. I think you have a shot to win but it won’t be the easiest road.

Sierra aka my closest ally in the game. We were partners and we RAN this merge together and took no prisoners. Through thick and thin we outlasted public outbursts, idol plays, lying, the lowest of lows, and we absolutely kicked butt. I honestly thing we played very similar game wise because we so often collaborated about strategic decisions. All of this doesn’t even count late night (for me) convos we would have together about the most random stuff. Making fun of eachother, of others, whatever. We did SO well in this game and I’m really glad you made it here, even if that meant *I* ended up with your much hated 5th place spot. I think you have a great shot to win but you are going to have some work to do with other jurors. I don’t feel bitter at all towards my vote off because it was practically unavoidable, but I know others aren’t going to feel the same way. We were close and always will be close, good luck with your first FTC.



So as far as my question goes. While I may not be around to see the answers I would greatly appreciate if you did because I kinda put a lot of work into this lol. So here comes the start of something great, something phenomenal, the SPECTACULAR game show I call:

Weeeeelome to a show I like to call Rankdown. I’m you host Maaaaaaaaatty ICE. Today THREE contestants will be pit against eachother to create LISTS. Yes, lots of LISTS. These LISTS (this is fun) can vary from game related to social related. The goal of this exercise it to test the perception of the finalists remaining in the game. I’ll be asking a series of question (3 in fact) which call for you to rank a certain number of people/things in order from greatest to least great (not necessarily worst). Let us begin:

Snazzy eh? Totally would have put the 3 finalists in those booths but I kinda dunno who you are as I’m writing this. 

Simple enough. All I am asking you to do is power rank the jury. In my opinion this should be a jury question staple because it shows who the finalists saw as power players in this game. Please be sure to rank who on the jury YOU think played the best and/or hardest.

Slightly harder question. Basically what I am asking you to do is rank social relationships you had thoughout this game that got you this far and helped you the most. This isn’t asking who you had the closest social bonds with, this is almost purely strategic (however you are welcome to take personal feeling about a person into account if it’s close).

Please highlight a few moves/reasons (strategic, social, w/e) that got you here to this point. Rank them from the things that helped you the most to either moves that may have been but not GREAT, OR you can use this to admit to mistakes you have made. Either way have fun answering it

First of all, I love you.

Second of all, this is entirely based on my viewpoint of the game and is absolutely rife with hypotheticals. Soz.



1. Matty -- I think most people will probably agree with this one. Towards the end of the game, Matty was constantly toted as the biggest threat. He was my closest ally for most of the game, but even I knew that I would probably eventually have to vote him out if I wanted any shot at winning. Matty boasts a very similar strategic resume to mine and I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone in this game who doesn't love him (even if begrudgingly in some cases).

2. Steph -- Steph has a very magnetic personality. I'm almost certain I'm not the only one who pretty much instantly fell in love with her, and well, love is a powerful drug (pretty sure she really does have addictive properties). She's also very game-savvy and an underrated strategist, pretty much ingredients for a guaranteed win if she had made the final 3.

3. Ozzy -- I feel like Ozzy didn't really get a chance to shine after his return, but to me it looked like he had a lot of promise. We joked about him being a strategic mastermind, but I'm convinced that that isn't too far from the truth. His brain constantly seemed to be working and I could tell he was always thinking five steps ahead. He got back into the game based off of castaway votes, suggesting he was pretty well-liked amongst the remaining players at the time of the Second Chances round. Given the opportunity, I believe he would have done very well in the post-merge game.

4. Jamie -- Jamie was a super friendly and likeable guy who seemed to have a good head on his shoulders (he was kind of a major voice of reason for me during the Amber debacle lol). He was a challenge beast in the tribal phase of the game and I don't doubt that he would have given all of us a run for our money in challenges post-merge. He was a valuable ally to me and many others pre-merge and I think he would have had a solid chance at making the end if things had turned out slightly differently in his boot round.

5. Varner -- I think after a while everyone twigged on to the fact that Varner was making deals left, right and center and that he was definitely very duplicitous in the name of the game, but some of the deals he made definitely stuck to some degree, because he managed to have access to a lot of information throughout the course of the game. He's also undeniably a total charmer and I think he could have made a convincing case for himself if he had made FTC, if not only because of how smooth he can be.

6. Shane -- I suspect that Shane is actually a very strong player underneath his character. I believe he was definitely here to play the game hard, but could not seem to make the trade off between playing a character and maintaining a level of "realness" that would actually entice others to work with him over more consistent options. He made a great ally out of Varner and participated in the blindside of a potential power player. If he had not initially been sent out very early in the game, I think he would have done a lot of damage.

7. Kimmi -- It's hard to rank Kimmi because she went out relatively early and returned only to the jury. If not for her placement, she would likely be a lot higher up in this ranking. Some of my most substantial conversations throughout the entire game were with Kimmi, and I think this may have been the case for a lot of people who interacted with her. Kimmi is a very engaging person and also appeared to be a formidable gamer. I regret having to vote her out so early, certainly at least in part because I would have loved to see what she was capable of.

8. Tom -- Tom is definitely a very strategic player. He has keen game sense and is able to read situations and figure out how they will affect him. He also had a much better social game this time around than I have seen from him before, but his tendency to get helplessly caught up in stratbot plotting sometimes comes at the cost of his social relationships and/or longevity in the game. I am only ranking him so low here because I think one move in particular that he made cost him any chance he might have had at winning the game, and I suspect his character might have sketched people out a little.

9. Cirie -- Don't get it twisted (lol get it???), Cirie is a great player. I have seen her play and have played with her before and she has a very unique way of navigating through games that usually sees her making it far. This game, however, the cards did not fall in her favour. She ended up in the minority on nuBarra and was unable to get the numbers she needed after the next swap. This coupled with the fact that she had just started a new game that was taking up a lot of her time definitely impacted the effectiveness of her gameplay here, and she was unable to rule like the queen she is.

10. Crystal -- I mean absolutely no offense in ranking Crystal at the bottom. I simply do not know enough about Crystal or the game she played to rank her elsewhere. I only ever heard positive things about her, and I enjoyed the conversations I had with her, but to me it seemed like she kinda checked out after the Cirie boot.

[Sierra]

1. Joaquin -- I really have to underline the importance of this one. First of all, this was one of the two relationships I formed that saved me from being booted on nunuBarra. As far as more long-term stuff goes, aligning and making a final 2 deal with someone everyone saw as a swing vote/loose number as well as a bit of a goat was potentially one of the best moves I made all game. Joaq's supposed wandering goat/inactive status attracted people to him. If people wanted to make a move or switch things up, they went to Joaq (and Steph, but more on that later), and in turn, he came to me. There was a constant flow of information between the two of us that gave us a lot of control over the post-merge game, and the best part was that while some people may have suspected our connection, I don't think anyone ever quite pinned it down. Even at F6, I think the remaining players were perceived as a set of 3 pairs - Me/Matty, Steph/Joaq and Chelsea/Varner - and nobody was aware that by roping Joaq into their plans, they were also inadvertently revealing their hand to me. Joaq played an excellent double agent and I don't think there is anything about this game we did not tell each other (though I may well be mistaken - we'll let him clear that up if he'd like). The best part is that through all of this and completely aside from all the game BS, I met someone I adore and I know will be a lasting friend (sorry 4 the sap).

2. Steph -- This is the second relationship I formed on nunuBarra that saved me from what seemed like certain death. Steph was My Person in this game. As well as being an amazing ally, she was what kept me sane (and also a bit insane, but in the best way). When I felt like I wanted to mentally or emotionally check out of it or I just couldn't be bothered playing, it was Steph being there that kept my head in it. I had so much fun with her that I almost forgot I was playing Survivor. Her perceived swing status mid-late merge was another great information channel, and she was always there to hash things out with, offer an alternative perspective and keep me grounded. She was also my connection to Ozzy, who I had never spoken to before his return to the game.
Steph & I connected in a way that I feel reached way beyond this game, which is not something I experience often in ORGs, but it sure made the whole experience easier and a lot more enjoyable. At this point, I can only hope I didn't kill that connection through making the moves I did. 

3. Chelsea -- Chelsea and I got along super well on original Penedo. By the time merge came, we had been separated for like a full month and I was worried that our relationship would have been eclipsed by other connections we both had made. Instead, we pretty much picked up where we left off. Despite being on different "sides" for most of the merge, Chelsea and I maintained open communication about what was happening in the game and (from my side anyway) had each other's best interests at heart. Having a close ally who was on the opposing side of the numbers had obvious benefits, especially what with the rotating idol twist - I received information I otherwise would not have had access to and together we were able to ensure each other's safety from both "sides".

4. Matty -- This is probably obvious. Matty is the gold to my blue and the calm to my storm. He was the voice of reason every time I was flipping out about something (common for me - shocker, right?) and the one person I could always count on to keep a cool head when things got ugly. He reassured me that my ideas were not stupid and that being strategic did not make me an awful person. If Matty had not been in this game, my gameplay probably would have been a lot more questionable. Since Matty and I were very obviously on the same side, there were no extra information channels to be gained from maintenance of our relationship (at least not in the same way as in the three relationships listed above), but we shared everything and our ability to work seamlessly together and bounce ideas off each other put us in a kind of "power duo" position. I remember writing in a confessional right before merge that the chances of us both making it anywhere near the end were slim to none given that our connection was publicized, but we somehow managed. I think we both played strong strategic and social games and I feel our playstyles are very similar, which only further enhanced our communication.

5. Tom -- Surprise! He'll probably deny this, but Tom is arguably what kept me in this game early on. I was relatively inactive due to school and other stuff, but Tom kind of took me under his wing and was always there keeping me updated on everything that was going on. Post-merge, maintaining open communication with Tom made everything a lot easier in pretty much every way. Like I said in my last post, he's a savvy strategic player, and I'd much rather not have him completely against me. Like Matty, he's great at keeping it chill in crazy situations, and is always accurate in his analyses of the game (sometimes I need a more methodical approach in my life).

[Sierra]

I feel like I almost kind of covered this in my opening statement with my ~*highlight reel*~, but I'll recap again for clarity and all that stuff.

I started the game out on Penedo, and established myself in a majority alliance consisting of myself, Tom, Shane and Osten. Natalie was an easy boot the first round, and the next round Varner and I bonded hugely. He was the next target, and then Tom suggested blindsiding Osten, which Shane agreed to. Shane's aggressive character sketched me out, and Tom and Chelsea had grown close, so I did not want to try and flip the vote on either one of them for fear that it would alienate the other. I could not see a future in which working with Shane would benefit me more than working with Varner and/or Osten, so I orchestrated his blindside, which I think put me in a good position with the remainder of my tribemates.

After the first swap, I ended up on nuBarra with Tom. We both bonded with Matty and Matty brought Jamie in to form Orange is the New Barra, my second alliance of the game. This was a tribe of 8, which meant we needed one more to take majority. I bonded with John, and though he was never officially integrated into the alliance, he turned out to be very valuable. Matty made a slight blunder and told Amber she was in with the four of us without consulting the rest of us about it, including her in our plan to vote out Cirie. Amber then began plotting to idol Cirie and vote me out, and recruited Kimmi to help her do so by telling her that she was part of an alliance chat with Matty, Tom, Jamie and I (false) and that we were planning to vote out Kimmi next (again, false). My relationship with John paid off hugely, as Cirie messaged John about Amber's plan and he passed it on to me. This allowed me to anticipate the idol play on Cirie and the votes for me and flip the vote on someone else. Kimmi was the obvious choice to me; she was buying what Amber was selling, so she had already chosen her allegiance, and I was not 100% sure if Amber would actually play the idol on Cirie or if she would backtrack and play it on herself. Cirie, Amber and Kimmi had no way of knowing that we knew Kimmi was involved in the plot against me, so I knew there was no chance the idol would get played on her. It took a lot of insistent prodding with Tom in particular, but I ended up with the votes required to save myself and eliminate someone who had turned on me. Kimmi, I know I've told you this before, but I had every intention of working with you up until that point, and I felt like shit after booting you, even though I felt as if it was my only choice at the time. I wish you had felt comfortable enough with me to ask me whether what Amber was telling you was true or not, but I guess it is what it is at this point.

The next swap saw me landed in a sticky situation on nunuBarra. John was my only ally on the tribe, and Amber had just finished rampaging all over the boards calling me out. The rest of the tribe was comprised of Cirie, who was clearly out for my blood, and three people I had never talked to before. I bonded quickly with Joaquin and Steph, and despite having to let John go, I was able to use these new relationships to save myself. Ozzy returned as part of Second Chances and was a close ally of Steph's. The three of them voted with me in order to tie the vote between myself, Crystal and Cirie, and then voted Cirie out in the revote. This laid the foundations for what would become the mighty Wildcats at merge.

At merge, I was reunited with Matty, along with a whole host of other past tribe members. I immediately pulled Matty into an alliance comprising myself, Steph, Ozzy and Joaq (WILDCATS GO), and also maintained relations with my old allies from original Penedo. I did not want to openly pick a particular side quite yet, because it would mean shutting down connections to the other half of the cast, but I knew in my heart that the Wildcats were my family. Unfortunately, Ozzy was killed for his pelt by the original Penedos and Crystal, which left the Wildcats at a deficit numbers wise. I admit that I kind of lost my shit this round and did not handle myself too well, but I managed to keep things going with Chelsea and Tom, which was all I needed to keep myself safe.
I honestly cannot explain the wizardry that resulted in Shane and Crystal being eliminated back to back. My best guess is that the original Penedos felt comfortable with myself and potentially Matty, and so agreed to eliminate the "neutrals" in order to keep information flowing. At F8, Steph and Joaquin pushed to boot Tom, but I saw no sense in bringing the drama a round earlier than absolutely necessary, so I refused, and Crystal went instead. The Penedos feeling comfortable enough with me (or with other deals they thought they had, who knows) to eliminate two numbers they almost certainly had put the Wildcats at a 4 - 3 numbers advantage. This is where things started to get a little ugly.

At F7, I knew there was no viable choice but to eliminate Chelsea or Tom. Though Tom had expressed a desire to go to final four with Chelsea, myself and Matty, I simply didn't trust him to follow through with it. Varner had played his idol earlier in the merge and could not receive it again, taking the target off of him. I felt that my relationship with Chelsea would be more beneficial moving forward, so Tom was voted out.

At F6, Varner should have gone. It was the vote I initially pushed for, but then Joaq came to me telling me that Steph was intending on voting for Matty. The Wildcats were splintering. At this point, I had to make the worst and most painful call I have ever had to make in an ORG. I knew I would have to let Matty go eventually, but I could not do it at F6. I knew he would be unquestionably loyal to me no matter what, and that if he was eliminated at F6, I would likely be in massive danger at F5 because of the pairs perception. I knew that if I could keep Matty and Joaquin through F6, I would likely be set for the rest of the game, but I paid the price for that in hurting someone I love. Steph, I know what I say probably doesn't mean much to you, but I did not ever want you out at F6 until you went after Matty. These games do shit to you, and I was honestly paranoid that you were setting me up to go at F5, because even after I expressed concern for my future in the game if Matty were to leave then and there, you still went ahead and cast your vote for him. That is the main reason I voted for you; I had too many reservations about what would happen next if I did not. I know you say that you were not trying to go after me by booting Matty, but it was essentially the same thing given the nature of the game at that point. In any case, I did not mean for any of it to affect what we had as two humans, beyond the boundaries of this game. I understand if you are upset with me in the context of the game, but I really do hope you can forgive me as a person.

Around this time, I made a deal with Chelsea to never write each other's name down, fully intending to stick to it. I let Matty go at F5 because he was perceived as being an unbeatable end game threat, and I knew I had at least a tie set up at F4 with Joaq by my side, and even better if Chelsea kept her word. My alliance with Joaq again paid off as he voted with me, and my deal with Chelsea also stuck - so here I am.

TL;DR:
- Established self in majority alliance on original Penedo; orchestrated Shane blindside and curried favour with remaining tribemates
- Established self in alliance on nuBarra. Formed relationship with John that gave me access to information about an impending idol play that would have resulted in my elimination. Orchestrated Kimmi's vote to avoid this.
- Formed relationships with Joaq & Steph that saved me from a super shitty swap onto nunuBarra and allowed me to make merge.
- Made a F2 deal with Joaquin that brought me great benefits for the entirety of the post-merge game.
- Pulled Matty into Wildcats to make a solid fivesome at merge.
- Maintained bonds with original Penedo throughout merge while also working with the Wildcats. This allowed me to get information from both sides and have great influence at each TC. Post Ozzy's boot, pretty much everything went in a way that benefited me game-wise, and it wasn't (completely) an accident.
- Prioritized Crystal boot over Tom in order to maintain some form of neutrality between the "sides" until the last possible moment.
- Kept Matty safe at F6 to essentially 100% ensure my safety unti the endgame. 
- Made a deal with Chelsea at F6 to further ensure my safety moving towards the FTC.

[Sierra]

[Chelsea]

1. Matty

Had social connections and what I saw as who was the major force of the Matty/Sierra/Joaquin/Stephanie group.
He was able to cool Sierra down so that she would react more reasonably and stay in control of her game.
He also had not angered members of the jury and was basically could win against anyone. That's why he couldn't get to F4.


2. Stephanie

Also, was a major threat socially. Had the most connections than anyone in the cast.
She made one blunder of trying to flip on her alliance (I think) one round too soon.
Which opened it up for Varner and my escape.

3. Jeff

He could have gotten to the end had it not been his dad's birthday and me driving right before deadline.
We mutually benefited each other and I think we both got each other to the end. 
I was lucky enough to get the idol and he was lucky enough to play his in the beginning.
Our social play and idol happenings greatly affected our placements.

4. Crystal

During the swap I saw her as the most strategic force. Even higher than Matty.
I think had Ian or Kimmi came back from the Second Chance twist, we'd see the order of the Top13 entirely differently.
I think her busy weekend really doomed her because her social play could have kept her alive.
I was tempted to go to rocks to not lose majority at F10 but I knew Shane/Crystal were getting close (because obviously of the F5 tom-varner and I were close) but she didn't give me any information. I knew Shane would try to get me out sometime.
I could have felt more solid with that alliance had we exchanged a few more PMs during her busy schedule.

5. Tom

He and I would talk about options day in and day out. More so than Varner. 
Varner was talking to Stephanie and Joaq about options, but Tom and I already knew we were too deep with our connections
of Sierra, Matty and Varner. Neither of us wanted anything else but a F5 that included those people. 
And we tried playing to make that happen. We didn't stay with Shane/Crystal. We didn't do rocks at F8.
Tom played for those people and I saw him play hard for those people.

6. Ozzy

This was another person who played very hard. I could tell he was ready to play and ready to win.
He was good at social play and he was good at creating alliances that would help him get farther.
Ideally, it should have been Joaq at F11 boot to maximize Jeff/I ways to get to the end game.
But when you try to blindside, you have to cut off someone you know will be a big threat later on in the game.

7. Shane

Shane very good at reading people and knowing what to do. (Which is partly why I avoided him tbh)
He would have gotten Jamie's placement had he not made everything chaotic in the last 10 minutes of tribal. 
He bluffed playing the idol on himself which made more votes get on me and then either Jamie/I would have left.
He also grew very close to Crystal and Steph/Joaq to counteract Jeff-Tom- and I. I think had we kept majority he would have 
orchestrated a lot more blindsides this season and myself sitting on jury.


8. Jamie

Got screwed over in 2nd chances. 
Jeff/Tom/I voted out Ozzy (the first time) in order to hopefully work with Matty/Jamie at merge
because of Jamie's social play and he was shit talking Ozzy saying we couldn't trust him.
Unfortunately, when Shane got back he tried to push for us to vote him (which succeeded for 23 hours)
but ultimately got outplayed and was sent home.
He voted for me at that tribal just in case Shane played an idol so he was always thinking ahead.


9. Cirie, Kimmi

Unfortunately, I had not had the opportunity to talk with either of you in game.
I heard many things about your gameplay but that is from your perceived opposite side -
so I would only be judging you on how others think.
I would have liked to gotten to know your story and strategic/social game within the game. 

[Chelsea]

1. Tom

Tom and I may have been negative feed back loops or positive feed back loops depending on how you look at it.
We spoke everyday. Trying to figure out how The F5 could be Varner, Tom, Sierra, Matty and I. We played for that. 
He and I spoke about my dad almost every day until like round 10 or 11 - when I wanted to ignore that part of my life.
Tom kept me invested. There were times when I was stressed and wanted to check out.
He is the most important because he fueled my fire to fight for a purpose.


2. Jeff

Jeff was my voice of reason.
His connections became my connections and vice versa. 
We spoke almost everyday (he's more of a night owl.)
He helped me get how far I did because I would say he had better connections with Joaq/Stephanie.
He also was able to keep emotions out of game decisions and helped me when I struggled with that.
He helped us both with those connections. Like how I helped him with my idol play and immunity win.


3. Sierra

My ability to bond and form a real connection with her helped me escape out of the line of fire at F7. 
Tom fell the victim and I was able to win to the end
and could not be considered an option when she was surrounded by her other allies.
Our mutual bond helped us each survive F9, F8 and F7. 
She received the benefits at F9 and F8 when Tom and I had not wanted to coast with a majority alliance
and define a line separate from Sierra and Matty.


4. Crystal

Crystal was able to help me a lot during the first swap. 
I no longer had a Tom but I now had a Crystal.
Instead of long talks about my dad and his untimely future, it switched to boys.
I exchanged more personal problems with her than anyone else and she gave me a lot of advice.
I could talk to her about anything which made strategizing within the game more fun and mean more than anyone else in this entire game.

[Chelsea]

I'm here because I used my social-ability to navigate information and to keep the target off me and onto others.
Then, when I sensed danger I went on an immunity run. 

You guys keep wanting me to say these big grandiose moves that I orchestrated. 
My alliance of Tom-Varner and I did a few things but those aren't solely my moves. 
We blindsided Ian and Ozzy twice.

~Moves~
1) Kept in good graces of Sierra and Crystal by revealing plans. This kept doors open and kept the target off me and onto my allies.
2) Tom and I planned to make the F4 us two with Matty and Sierra. 
3) I separated myself from Varner so that way we both could survive a few rounds longer. I let him have closer ties to Stephanie and Joaq while I tried to get closer to Sierra and Matty with Tom. Then when he said Stephanie wanted to turn on Matty I wanted him to push that idea and hopefully break up the group of Sierra/Matty/Joaquin/Stephanie.


The moves that I solely made weren't grandiose or extreme. But I was apart of my alliance's blindsides. It's harder to sell the behind the scenes approach and if you judge me for it, then that's fine. It's my comeuppance. I played a lot of people for their information and never got the target onto myself. Which that's a hard task. I'm sure I was annoying or whining or a bother. But I actually did it. Whether or not that is to be rewarded over Sierra or Joaquin is your call. 

Even though Jeff says that the Shane vote is lucky for me because I would have been targeted. I knew that. I knew Shane leaving was best for my game and I was fighting for a F4 with Sierra/Matty/Tom and myself.
