Well, I guess I should say I didn't see it coming because I was seriously hoping for a merge as opposed to this garbage, but I know very well how much this series likes its swaps, so I can't say I'm surprised...just very, very disappointed in you, Probst. You're very rude.
LUCKILY, I don't think this swap ended all badly for me. I'm not even sure there was really a way this swap could have ended poorly for me if I'm being completely honest. I think I would have some sort of in with everyone left in the game to some extent except maybe John. I mean that in the sense that I'm very close with all my former Penedos, Jamie/Matty are working with Tom/Sierra which are close with me, Ozzy/Steph are both with me as far as I know, Crystal/Joaquin would have my back as well, and lastly, Cirie is definitely anti-Tom/Sierra and that means she is an easy vote up for grabs. I know John is close with Sierra, but without Sierra on my tribe, I'm not sure what good that would do me. But basically I'm just stating that I think this swap couldn't really have gone out of my favor unless there was an outcast's twist that brought Ian and Shane back from the grave. Don't get any ideas, either!
I guess , although I desperately wanted a merge, the fact it will be postponed likely another round will actually work out well for me. Weed out two more people who might not benefit me in the long run and hopefully make the merge a little more manageable for me. But if this is one of those "never merge" twists, I'm just going to be upset.
Spent a lot of time last night talking to people and trying to get as much info as possible. Basically, once I saw the tribes, I knew it was going to come down to either a 3-3, or likely that Ozzy would be an easy boot and I'll have to just let him go. The first person I knew I wanted to talk to was Matty, so I started a conversation up with him as soon as possible. I know he's a great challenge performer and also active, not to mention he is in that alliance with Tom and Sierra, so I knew he would be my first choice to have. If I can get in good with him, he will come across 10x more threatening than I will in most any situation and that will allow me to hang behind him for a bit while he takes the hits which is what I need. So I started talking with him and we hit it off very well. Spent two hours talking about just Survivor and stuff, not even about game which was very nice. All I need is for him to enjoy me and want me around so he won't want to target me this round.
The other people I spent time talking with were Ozzy (who is a frantic mess right now) and Big Tom (who I'm actually, surprisingly happy to get back with because I do genuinely think he's in my corner at the moment). My talk with Ozzy was good and pretty much went how I expected which he is freaking out about the double tribal and swap and knowing that it will likely end in a 3-3 tie this round if no idol is played and if we can't get someone to flip. Ozzy wants to either convince Tom to flip on one of Jamie/Matty, or Ozzy wants to convince Jamie/Matty to flip on Tom. Sure Ozzy, you go do your thing. I'm in NO rush to be throwing names out there and if Ozzy wants to game hard right off the bat, he will just put himself in danger. I like Ozzy, but he really is a get to the point and let's not BS type of player. Which is good...for me because usually he comes off as a gamer and schemer which makes me look better. I do like Ozzy though, so don't get me wrong. If there is a way to make sure he stays this round and someone like Jamie goes instead, I'm all for it since I've never talked to Jamie and Ozzy is 100% with me. But the realist in me is coming out and I'm not sure the chances that Ozzy gets out alive this round.
The conversation I had with Big Tom was pretty enlightening. He told me quite a few things whether it was intentional or not, but the quotes could really help me further into the game. He told me about the round that Kimmi went and how he actually wanted to get the vote on John that round instead. If I ever need John in the future, this will be a perfect way of getting him, I think. Then he told me about how Chelsea and I are his biggest priority. He's not as close to Sierra apparently. Helpful! He also told me that he likes Matty a lot and this round if we want to, he would be fine with Jamie leaving. Perfect! So, pretty much Tom has given me all I need in order to rally troops if it is ever needed. Is this stuff 100% legitimate? Who knows, but if I get in a tight bind, these things could be helpful to at least place doubt around camp. This also may be the thing we need to keep Ozzy safe.
The biggest issue with Ozzy's safety is the fact that Chelsea knows Ozzy cast that rogue vote against her the round Osten left. He did it to protect himself in case of an idol, but I think he picked the wrong person LOL. On paper, it was the proper thing to do for Ozzy's safety, and I knew where the idol was that round, so I could have told him but I didn't want to give anything unnecessary away. And if someone is going to tank their own game out of paranoia, why not just help them sink that ship? So, this round, Ozzy could see that slight choice in paranoia come back to bite him because I'm honestly not sure if Chelsea trusts him even though she said it was all water under the bridge. I need to see where Chelsea is at though because, like I've said in past confessionals, I'm losing trust in her and she just doesn't seem the same. I need to gauge where she is at so I can better maneuver myself.
But good news is that it looks as though Tom is still all for team Penedo and that's pretty much all I needed. I'm hoping this merge will be breezy like I'm beginning to think it might be, but I'm going to guess that the last 4 Tribal Councils aren't going to be the peak of excitement this season. I'm sure more blindsides and bickering are just waiting around the corner.
