A swap occurs and I lose my closest ally in Steph. However nuBarra has a plethora of new really cool and active people including Big Tom and Sierra. Jaime and I make a four person alliance with Sierra and Tom with the hopes of running the merge. We were looking for a fifth member of said alliance. I also got the idol once again so in case we lost the challenge there would be no paranoia about the upcoming vote. It looked like Amber was surely in trouble until Barra pulled out the very close immunity challenge win. Osten got the boot for doing almost nothing in the challenge, and the story goes on.........
So the day or so break we got until the live immunity challenge probably would have been way more boring had it not been for the release of OITNB and me going to a party on Saturday. I was actually pretty pleased to have the day off so I would be able to participate in the challenge. My social game wasn’t exactly “on fleek” for this round because I wasn’t online much Saturday and Sunday there just didn’t seem to be a lot happening.
I still did what I could to bond with Tom and Sierra when I had the chance. I also got to talk to Cirie and Kimmi a bit more. I think John was away for a lot of the weekend and I didn’t get to talk to him until right around challenge time. My opinions on the 3 of them haven’t changed a TON, but it is good to still talk to them.
Kimmi is extremely nice and can sometimes answer in really long paragraphs. Cirie has almost the opposite messaging style and sends paragraphs worth of stuff in multiple one line bursts. John messages me pretty normally. Not sure how any of that’s relevant to the game, just something I thought was interesting. If I would have to rank the 3 old Barra members it would probably be something like:
1. John
2. Kimmi
3. Cirie
When I got back home Saturday I talked to Tom some more where he actually filled me in on a lot of the strategic and game talk happenings.
Apparently Kimmi brought up an alliance of Sierra, Tom, Jaime, Cirie, her, and I. So that’s a 6 person majority alliance without John and Amber. So I’m sure this sounded cool to Tom, but I kinda like John and Amber way more than Kimmi and Cirie. I played along with it because I do think it is a good idea to have that 6 person group, just not necessarily with them. Luckily Sierra has been saying the same stuff to Tom about liking John so I don’t think he would be in trouble if we lose. Only issue is that Sierra and Amber don’t talk much (Sierra apparently finds Amber pretty boring to talk to. Ugh, gosh dang it Amber).
I actually talked to Amber about a possible alliance with Tom and Sierra. She said Jaime brought it up and I was basically just asking for her thoughts. I didn’t really expect her to say no or anything and she didn’t. Amber seemed very open to the idea, said that she trusted me the most and if I thought it was a good idea she is ok with it. Now I don’t know if I 100% believe her, but at this point I really don’t see why not. I hope she doesn’t obviously seem like the 5th person of the alliance, but I really don’t know if she would perceive it that way. What I am hoping is that she sees it as a 3-2 Novais-Penedo grouping. I guess only time can tell.

The fact I was asked by Tom first to be in the 4 person one leads me to believe they may like me more than Jaime, but I’m not 100% with that. I know that Jaime is still my bro pretty much. I trust him lots and I think he trusts me too. He has definitely been a team player though with the alliance stuff. He was telling Tom a bunch of stuff about his interactions with Cirie while I was away.
Apparently Cirie offered to Jaime and alliance of Cirie, Jaime, John, and Kimmi. That’s pretty sketch considering Cirie said she hasn’t talked game much with people. She also apparently promised Tom he wouldn’t vote for him. Well that kinda narrows numbers down to a group of people I would prefer wouldn’t get votes (Sierra, Amber, Me). So thanks to that and Amber agreeing to the alliance thing (a little sketchily and Tom wasn’t so sure what to think of it, he seemed at least moderately ok with it) it looks like Cirie would be the first target it we end up losing. So that’s good! What we would probably try doing is forcing a 5-3 vote so if Cirie has the idol or something we have to hope the 3 of them vote Amber. That is something to be dealt with when we need to though.
This challenge was Barra-domination. Jaime, Amber, John, and I all killed it. Jaime was the MVP with the most jugs I think, but we all did really well. Again, I would like to win the series of course so looking like a challenge thread may not be the best idea, but I more want to have fun with this one. It’s been a while since I have been able to play a good social and physical game so I am excited to be able to do that. I feel like I am in a pretty good spot right now, but by no means am I going to assume I will be safe forever. I recognize that it will be 3-4 more rounds until the jury begins to form and that is when everything gets real. In my opinion, the pre-merge is simply a time to build relationships for the real game to start at the merge. I am hoping I am doing that effectively, and I end up succeeding later down the road.
Sorry (not sorry) for the lack of ice puns for this round, but once we go to tribal and things begin to actually happen I am sure there will be lots more excitement in these. Matty Ice out!
(Also, thank you Brandon for being the only one to like my confessional last round. The baby thing may need to wait though.............)
